There are countless romantic activities in the area, like taking an evening stroll along the beach or dining at one of the area’s finest seafood restaurants. No matter what you and your spouse enjoy doing, you’ll find it right here in Fort Morgan and Gulf Shores. Read on for some of our favorite honeymoon ideas right near our Gulf Shores home rentals!

What to Do

Plan your honeymoon in Gulf Shores by adding some of these totally romantic things to do. Start off by booking a dolphin tour. The Sunny Lady Dolphin Tours runs daily charters through Orange Beach’s bays, which are prime spots for dolphin-seeing. Every tour lasts about 1.5-2 hours and costs $22 per adult. If you go at sunset, you will get a stunning view of the horizon. You might also spot some manatees and other wildlife hanging around!

If you are into watersports, you can rent a kayak and paddle along the shoreline at sunset. Try taking a Fort Morgan nature hike tour through the waters of the Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge so that you can spot Gulf Shores’ native creatures. You might spot some turtles, fish, and a variety of different birds. Of course, if you would rather get more hands-on with your kayaking adventure, you can take your watercraft out and do some fishing. You can catch many types of fish here to take home and prepare as part of a romantic dinner.

What is more romantic than a sunset ride on a Ferris wheel? Head on over to Canal Road in Orange Beach for a relaxing ride on one of the Gulf Coast’s most visible landmarks. The Wharf’s Ferris wheel is one of the tallest of its kind in the Southeastern United States. You get a vast tree-top view of the Gulf and a refreshing breeze running through your hair. Start or end the day here; it is open from noon to 10 p.m. every day. The Ferris wheel is 112 feet tall and can hold 140 people in its 24 gondolas, one of which is handicap accessible. Come after sunset and check out the beautiful lights that adorn this massive structure.

Gulf Shores truly has something for everyone, so you and your new husband or wife can find something fun to indulge in. Take a sunset cruise to finish off an evening and try to spot the dolphins swimming alongside your boat, or ride the zipline to get the best possible view of nature.

Schedule some time for relaxation with a couple’s massage or an afternoon browsing the local antique shops. Be sure to fit in a game of mini-golf to let out your competitive side! Of course, there is plenty of shoreline for you two to enjoy, so you can bask in the sun, have an afternoon picnic on the sand, or just splash in the water together.

Where to Eat

Gulf Shores is known for having some of the best restaurants in the country, and quite a few of them have dazzlingly romantic ambiances. Seafood is a staple of the diet here, and there are some amazing seafood restaurants for couples to try. If you and your loved one want oysters, the Acme Oyster House is a delicious aspect of Gulf Shores’ history. Founded in 1910, this restaurant started out in the French Quarter but is now located throughout the Gulf South. Each restaurant has the same splendid menu and charming atmosphere. This location is near the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance, which is a ‘must-see’ if you and your beloved are art fanatics!

Whether you want a casual meal or an upscale evening, all of the best dining is just moments away from our Gulf Shores vacation rentals. For a casual Sunday brunch, eateries like Fisher’s in Orange Beach or Brick N Spoon are the places to be.

In the evening, head over to Orange Beach to try the Wolf Bay Lodge, a seafood staple in the area since 1973. Visit the Sunset Cork Room to experience what has often been voted the “Most Romantic Dinner,” or try the Villagio Grill for a more relaxed eating experience with a gorgeous view.

To satisfy your sweet tooth after dinner, be sure to head to Kayden’s Candy Factory or Chocolate Corner for the perfect sweet treat.

What to See

Gulf Shores and the surrounding area has incredible sights for all interests. Head to Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge to get up close and personal with the native animals, or book a ticket with South Baldwin Community Theater to watch a local play.

History buffs also thrive in the area, with destinations like the Fort Morgan Historic Site and Historic Blakeley State Park. Perhaps the best view of the area is from the sky.

You can book a helicopter outing with Lost Bay Helicopters or Orange Beach Helicopters for a one-of-a-kind view of the city from above. If you’d rather do things on your own, you can always rent a couple of bicycles and make your own way through the city.
